About

Glen Island Campground offers one of the most distinctive camping experiences in New York State. Located in The Narrows section of Lake George, the campground spans multiple state-owned islands accessible only by boat. With 165 standard campsites and 40 cruiser sites for larger boats with sleeping quarters, campers can choose from a variety of waterfront locations. Each standard site provides a dock for one boat, a fireplace, picnic table, and pit privy, while cruiser sites add charcoal burners. Lake George, known as the "Queen of American Lakes," stretches 32 miles long and features exceptionally clear water that supports a two-story fishery. The forested shoreline sites offer privacy and direct access to world-class fishing, paddling, sailing, and swimming. Black Mountain trailheads and other hiking opportunities are accessible from the water. Generator use is restricted to preserve the tranquil atmosphere, with quiet hours strictly enforced from 10 PM to 7 AM. Reservations are made through ReserveAmerica up to 9 months in advance. Campers must arrange private marina access for parking and boat launching, as there is no DEC launch facility. Two ADA-accessible sites (BM5 and BM6) with accessible privy facilities are available. Pets are prohibited on all island sites, docks, and moored vessels.

Directions

Glen Island campsites are accessible by boat only. Campers must use private marinas in the Bolton Landing area for parking and boat launching. The campground is located in The Narrows section of Lake George, east of Bolton Landing. A Lake George Park Commission user permit is required for all vessels.
