About
Half Moon Pond State Park is tucked into the forests of the 3,500-acre Bomoseen State Park in Vermont's Taconic Mountains, sitting in a sheltered basin around the peaceful Half Moon Pond. The campground contains 52 tent/RV sites and 11 lean-tos, with options ranging from wooded sites to waterfront locations directly on the pond. Five furnished cabins and the Tall Timbers Cottage are also available for those seeking more comfortable accommodations. The park features restrooms with flush toilets, hot and cold running water, and token-operated showers. An RV dump station is available, though no hookups exist at individual sites. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. The camp store sells firewood, ice, groceries, and supplies. Recreation centers on the pond, where rowboats, kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, and stand-up paddleboards are available for rent from the park office. Two small sandy beaches offer swimming and sunbathing. On land, a vast trail system provides hikes for all abilities, connecting to the larger Bomoseen State Park trail network. Additional amenities include a volleyball court, horseshoe pit, and playground.
