About
Anderson Park is a day-use recreation area managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the Alabama side of West Point Lake, northwest of the West Point Dam and Powerhouse. The park provides year-round access to West Point Lake, which extends 35 miles along the Chattahoochee River on the Alabama-Georgia state line with 525 miles of shoreline.
The park features a reservable group shelter located near the shoreline with two tables, a grill, and restroom facilities. Visitors enjoy easy access to bank fishing along the lake and a boat ramp for water access. Multiple picnic sites are scattered throughout the park, making it an ideal spot for day trips and group gatherings. The unstaffed facility operates on a first-come, first-served basis for general day use, while the group shelter can be reserved in advance through Recreation.gov.
Pets are welcome on leash (under six feet), though they are not permitted on beaches. The park prohibits golf carts, ATVs, UTVs, and dirt bikes. Special event permits may be required for large gatherings such as weddings or fishing tournaments. The location offers convenient access from West Point via 3rd Avenue, approximately 3.5 miles into Alabama.
Directions
From West Point, turn onto 3rd Ave heading towards Alabama, continue for approximately 3.5 miles, watch for the park sign, and turn right into the park.
