About

Rocky Creek Park sits on the east side of Benbrook Lake in north central Texas, accessible from Granbury Road or McPherson Road. The primitive campground features 11 campsites nestled under tree cover along the Rocky Creek channel, offering a more rustic camping experience compared to other developed campgrounds on the lake. Each campsite provides a covered picnic table and parking, with water hydrants located throughout the park, but no electric, water, or sewer hookups are available. The park's main picnic area occupies an open peninsula below wooded hillsides with extensive shoreline access for swimming, fishing, and picnicking. Vault toilets are located throughout the park. The campground offers access to several miles of hiking and horseback trails. A boat launch provides water access, though boating to the main body of the lake may not be possible during drought conditions. Located in a low-lying creek area, the campground is subject to water level fluctuations. During periods of high water, portions of the campground may flood, while drought conditions can limit boating access. Despite being a primitive setting, the park's proximity to Fort Worth provides convenient access to the city's Cultural District, Stockyards National Historic District, Botanical Gardens, and downtown Sundance Square.

Directions

From the intersection of Granbury Road and Sycamore School Road, go west and southwest 1.5 miles to the intersection of Granbury Road, McPherson Road and St. Francis Village Road. Proceed on Rocky Creek Park Road 1 mile to the park entrance. Or from the Chisholm Trail Parkway, exit for McPherson Road and go west to Rocky Creek Park Road.
