Bear Creek

Bear Creek Campground occupies a wooded, generally level setting along Bear Creek on the south side of Benbrook Lake. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the campground offers 46 individual campsites, all equipped with electric hookups (20/30 amp standard, with six sites offering 50 amp service) and water connections. Two sites also include sewer hookups. Each site features a covered picnic table, parking pad, and cooker, with fire pits available for campfires. Facilities include restrooms with showers and a trailer dump station. A boat ramp provides direct lake access for anglers and boaters. The area supports diverse wildlife including deer, hawks, owls, roadrunners, and woodpeckers. Fort Worth's Cultural District, Stockyards, Botanical Gardens, and Zoo are all within a short drive, making this an excellent base for exploring the region while enjoying lakeside camping.

Directions

From Interstate 20 or 820 in southwest Fort Worth, take exit 429A for Highway 377 toward Granbury and go south 5.7 miles. Turn left onto FM Road 1187 and continue 1.4 miles, then turn left onto Ben Day-Murrin Road and continue 1.6 miles to the campground entrance.
