Cedar Hill State Park provides an accessible camping destination within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, located on the shores of Joe Pool Lake. The park offers 350 developed campsites divided among four distinct camping areas: Eagle Ford, Lakeview, Shady Ridge, Coyote Crossing, and Hog Wallow. All developed sites include water and electric hookups with both 30 and 50 amp service available. For RVers seeking full amenities, 147 sites also provide sewer connections. Each developed campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring, with restroom facilities featuring hot showers located nearby. Sites #111, 112, 124, and 140 are wheelchair accessible. Beyond the developed camping areas, the park offers 30 primitive hike-in campsites at $10 per night for those seeking a more rustic experience. Note that campfires are prohibited in the primitive camping area, and facilities are limited to chemical toilets. Firewood transportation is restricted due to an emerald ash borer quarantine affecting Dallas County. The park serves as a hub for outdoor recreation with the DORBA Trail system crisscrossing 1,200 acres, open to both hikers and mountain bikers. Joe Pool Lake provides opportunities for swimming, fishing, and boating. The Penn Farm Agricultural History Center within the park offers a glimpse into North Texas farming heritage. Due to its proximity to Dallas, the park recommends reservations for camping and day use, especially on weekends and holidays.

From Dallas, take I-20 West to FM 1382 (Belt Line Road) exit. Head south on FM 1382 for approximately 4 miles. The park entrance is at 1570 West FM 1382, Cedar Hill, TX 75104.
