About
Rocky Branch Day Use Park is located on Holt Lake on the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway northeast of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The facility is situated in a beautiful mixed pine and hardwood forest along the shoreline, providing day-use visitors with access to water sports, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking and biking.
The park features 88 picnic sites with grills, two reservable group shelters (Hickory Point Shelter and Hilltop Shelter), a maintained swim beach, and hiking trails that explore the lake shore. A waterborne bathroom facility is available. An adjacent boat ramp provides year-round access to Holt Lake. The park operates seasonally and is staffed from late May through early September.
Holt Lake was created by the damming of the Black Warrior River. The campground displays colorful foliage along the riverbanks each fall. Wildlife in the area includes deer, squirrel, wild turkey, migratory birds and blue birds. The Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway consists of six lakes with a total length of 457 miles and 39,800 surface acres of water. Park rules include no camping overnight, no pets on the beach, no alcohol, and no fires on the beach. Entry requires a day-use pass, USACE Annual Day Use Pass, or America The Beautiful pass per vehicle.
