About

Oak Mountain State Park Campground sits within Alabama's largest state park, spanning 11,861 acres of oak-covered ridges and valleys just south of Birmingham. The campground offers multiple site types to accommodate different camping styles: full-hookup RV sites with water, electric (30/50 amp), and sewer connections; partial hookup sites with water and electric only; primitive tent sites; and 12 equestrian sites with covered horse stalls. Most sites are back-in configurations, though nine pull-through options exist for larger rigs. Every campsite includes a picnic table, tent pad, grill, lantern hook, and fire ring. The campground features two bathhouses with hot showers and restrooms, plus an additional restroom near the playground and dog park. Two coin laundry facilities serve each side of the campground. A dump station is available for $3 to non-registered campers. The country store stocks camping supplies, firewood, snacks, and gifts. The park's trail network provides direct access from camp to over 100 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian paths. Additional park amenities include two fishing lakes, a beach and swim area, marina rentals, an 18-hole golf course, and the Alabama Wildlife Center. Reservations can be made up to one year in advance through reserve.alapark.com or by calling 205-620-2527.
