About

Rockhaven Park sits on the south side of Clinton Lake, west of the dam on the Rock Creek Arm. This is the only campground at Clinton Lake where equestrians can camp overnight with their horses and mules. The facility features 24 campsites, with 19 offering equestrian accommodations including corrals, hitching posts, and manure bunkers. Sites 13E through 24E provide 30-amp electrical service. The campground serves as the trailhead for the South Shore Trails, a network of equestrian and hiking paths on the lake's south side. Non-equestrian campers can reserve five standard sites, though the facility is designed primarily for horse camping. Amenities include a four-stall shower and restroom building, vault toilets, water hydrants throughout, a picnic shelter, playground, and horseshoe pits. Clinton Lake was authorized by Congress in 1962 and filled in 1980. The reservoir features steep bluffs, wooded shoreline, and limited development to preserve the natural setting. Lawrence and Topeka are both within a 30-minute drive.
