About
Blackpine Horse Camp is a designated equestrian camping area located at the end of Icicle Road (Forest Road 7600) in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The campground sits along Blackpine Creek at an elevation near 3,000 feet, providing horse campers with staging access to the Alpine Lakes Wilderness backcountry. The facility offers 10 single campsites on a first-come, first-served basis. Amenities include vault toilets, though potable water is not currently available. The primary draw is trail access: Icicle Creek Trail #1551, Jack Creek Trail, and Blackjack Ridge Trail #1565 all depart from or near the camp. Blackjack Ridge Trail climbs to Bootjack Mountain and connects with Snowall-Cradle Lake Trail #1560 and Meadow Creek Trail #1559 deeper into the wilderness. The typical operating season runs June through October, though access depends on snow conditions and road maintenance. The last 5 miles of Icicle Road are gravel, crossing Icicle Creek before reaching the campground.
Directions
From Leavenworth, WA, head southwest on US-2 West for 0.8 mile. Turn left onto Icicle Road and follow for about 18 miles. The road becomes gravel at approximately mile 13 (now Forest Road 7600) and crosses Icicle Creek around mile 15. Black Pine Horse Camp is on the left at mile 18, just past Blackpine Trailhead.
