About

Rock Creek Group Campground is a shaded group camping area located at 7,200 feet elevation in the Rock Creek Drainage on the southern slope of Utah's Uinta Mountains within Ashley National Forest. The campground is set back from the main road for privacy, surrounded by dense stands of aspen and pine trees with sagebrush and wildflowers dotting the landscape. Evenings tend to be cool at this elevation. The single group site accommodates up to 75 people and is equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, and grills. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water so campers must bring their own supply. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed at all times within the campground. Rock Creek offers excellent fishing for brown, brook, and rainbow trout, with seasonal whitewater rafting and kayaking opportunities. The Rock Creek Trail begins just over a mile away and provides access to the High Uintas Wilderness for hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding. Upper Stillwater Reservoir and Lower Stillwater Ponds are nearby for additional fishing and swimming.

From Duchesne, Utah, take Highway 87 north 15 miles to the Mountain Home turnoff and turn left. Continue 2.5 miles north to the Rock Creek Store and turn left toward Rock Creek Canyon. Proceed approximately 14 miles to the campground.
