About
Upper Stillwater House is a rental cabin located below Upper Stillwater Reservoir in the Rock Creek Drainage on the southern slope of the beautiful Uinta Mountains. Situated just below the Upper Stillwater Dam at an elevation of 8,000 feet, this cabin provides comfortable accommodations for 5-8 people with modern conveniences including flush toilets, running water, shower, electric heat, electric lights, and modern appliances. The Stillwater Trail begins only a short distance from the house and provides access to the High Uintas Wilderness from the Upper Stillwater Trailhead, where hiking, backpacking, horseback riding and backcountry fishing are very popular activities in this scenic region. Rock Creek offers rainbow and brook trout fishing. Upper Stillwater Reservoir is accessible only to watercraft that can be carried in, as the boat ramp is closed to vehicle traffic. The cabin is surrounded by a forest of Ponderosa pine, lodgepole pine, and aspen trees. Summer wildflowers are abundant in the area. From Duchesne, Utah, take Highway 87 approximately 20 miles north to Mountain Home, turn left at the Rock Creek Store and travel 18 miles to reach the property.
