About

Upper Stillwater House is a comfortable cabin rental located below Upper Stillwater Reservoir in the Rock Creek Drainage of Ashley National Forest. Situated at approximately 8,000 feet elevation on the southern slope of the Uinta Mountains, this facility provides an excellent basecamp for exploring the High Uintas Wilderness. The cabin sleeps 5-8 guests with two bunkbeds, one queen bed, and a sleeper couch. Amenities include a flush toilet, running water, bathtub/shower, electric heat, wood stove, and a full kitchen with stove top, oven, refrigerator, and microwave. Linens and bedding are not provided. Trash collection is available on site. The nearby Stillwater Trail, just 0.6 miles up the road, provides access to the High Uintas Wilderness where visitors enjoy hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and backcountry fishing. Upper Stillwater Reservoir, 0.8 miles away, offers fishing for rainbow, brown, and brook trout. Rock Creek below the reservoir also provides fishing opportunities.

Directions

From Highway 40 in Duchesne, Utah, turn north onto Highway 87. Go 15.5 miles to the Mountain Home turnoff. Turn north onto N 21000 W and continue 2.5 miles toward Mountain Home. Turn left at the Rock Creek Store onto W 6750 N and proceed about 23 miles to the cabin.
