About

Roche-A-Cri State Park Campground sits beneath one of Wisconsin's most distinctive geological features, a 300-foot-high sandstone outcropping that rises dramatically from the surrounding flat landscape. The park, established in 1948, protects both this natural wonder and the Native American petroglyphs and pictographs carved into its face. Campers have direct access to a 303-step stairway leading to the mound's summit, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The campground features 40 sites spread across a wooded setting. Four sites offer electrical hookups, two are walk-in tent sites, one is tent-only, and 33 can accommodate both trailers and tents. One ADA-accessible site includes electricity, a hard-surface pad with grill, and an asphalt path to the vault toilet. Facilities include vault toilets, drinking water fountains, and a dump station. Firewood is available for purchase during office hours. Beyond camping, the park offers hiking trails, fishing opportunities, and picnicking areas. The area's unique sandstone formations are remnants of ancient islands that once dotted a prehistoric sea, making this a geologically significant destination in central Wisconsin.
