About
Mill Bluff State Park Campground sits at the foot of dramatic sandstone mesas that rise 80 to 200 feet above the surrounding plain. These ancient rock formations were islands in Glacial Lake Wisconsin roughly 12,000 years ago and are now part of the Ice Age National Scientific Reserve. The 21-site campground offers a peaceful wooded setting with a mix of shaded and partially-shaded sites, six of which have electrical hookups for RVs and campers. Amenities are basic but functional: vault toilets and hand-pump water are available, though campers seeking showers will need to visit nearby vendors. Each standard site includes a fire ring and picnic table. Sites 7 and 10-21 are particularly flat and accessible. The campground operates seasonally from late May through September, with reservations available through the Wisconsin State Park System. Beyond camping, the park offers hiking trails that ascend several bluffs via wooden staircases, rewarding visitors with sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. A small swimming pond provides a refreshing option on hot days. The park's location near Camp Douglas makes it an ideal overnight stop for travelers on I-90/94 or a base for exploring the Driftless Area.
