About

Northern Lights Campground holds the distinction of being Devil's Lake State Park's oldest campground, originally opened in 1939 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, who built three of the four shower/restroom buildings that still stand today. The campground features 143 individual sites numbered 104-246, offering a diverse camping experience with both wooded and open/grassy settings. This is the only campground in the park where campers can find wooded electric sites, with 71 electric sites and 72 non-electric sites available. The campground sits approximately half a mile from Devil's Lake, separated by terrain that provides a quieter camping experience. Each site includes a picnic table, gravel or paved parking area, space for at least one family tent, and a metal fire ring. Amenities include four shower/restroom buildings with sinks, mirrors, electrical outlets, toilets, and individual shower stalls at no additional charge. A dump/fill station is available for registered campers, and a playground is located near site 140. Two sites are designated as accessible for people with disabilities. Campers can gather deadwood from the forest floor for campfires, and firewood is also available for purchase. Running water taps are scattered throughout the campground for drinking and general use. The campground operates under a carry-in, carry-out trash policy, though dumpsters and recycling facilities are available if needed.
