About
Buckhorn State Park occupies a scenic peninsula on Castle Rock Flowage where the Wisconsin and Yellow Rivers meet, creating a paradise for water enthusiasts and campers. The park offers multiple camping experiences across its 6,990 acres, from drive-in family sites to remote cart-in locations. The main family campground features 69 sites accessible via 19th Avenue north of Launch A, including 17 standard electric sites and 3 accessible electric sites. All sites include picnic tables and fire rings, with several pull-through options available. The modern campground has a shower and flush toilet building, and a dump station near the park office. A half-mile crushed rock path connects the campground to the day-use area. For those seeking more solitude, 50 cart-in campsites are scattered throughout the park in small clusters, most located near the water. Each cart-in site has a picnic table, fire ring, and bench, with shared carts available and portable or pit toilets serving each cluster. Some sites are accessible by boat or canoe. Three group tent sites on the park's east side can accommodate up to 40 people each. The park also offers an accessible cabin for people with disabilities, located next to an accessible fishing pier. Reservations are available online up to 11 months in advance through the Wisconsin State Parks system.
