About

Buckhorn State Park spans over 8,000 acres on a scenic peninsula in the Castle Rock Flowage, making it a paradise for water enthusiasts, hikers, and campers. The main family campground offers 69 sites, all equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. Twenty sites feature electric hookups, including three accessible electric sites. For those seeking a more primitive experience, 50 cart-in backpack campsites are available, with shared carts provided for hauling gear. The park provides solid amenities including vault toilets at the group camping areas, portable toilets at backpack site clusters, and a shower/toilet building near the park office. A dump station is located near the office, and water is available at group camping areas. Three group tent sites (B1, B2, B3) can each accommodate up to 40 people and include a volleyball court and horseshoe pit. An accessible cabin accommodates up to six people and sits adjacent to an accessible fishing pier. Site 8 offers an asphalt path to the parking lot for visitors with mobility needs. The park is open year-round from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., with select backpack sites available for winter camping.
