2:33 AM — 12:00 PM

* The warm air temperatures today in the upper 60s to lower 70s may cause people to underestimate the dangers of the cold water temperatures. Lake and river temperatures are only in the upper 40s to mid 50s. * The cold water temperatures can quickly cause hypothermia to anyone immersed in the water. According to the US Coast Guard, when the water temperatures are below 60 degrees, the average submerged person could lose dexterity within minutes and be unable to accomplish simple tasks. Anyone on small boats, canoes or kayaks should plan accordingly if recreating today and use extreme caution to avoid this threat. Paddle smart from the start and always wear your life jacket!

About

Robert Moses State Park is situated in the world-renowned Thousand Islands region along the St. Lawrence River, with facilities spread across both the mainland and Barnhart Island. The campground features wooded sites and cabins within a diverse landscape of forests, fields, wetlands, and waterfront. The park is accessible through a distinctive tunnel under the Eisenhower Lock. The campground operates two separate loops: the Long Sault Loop (open mid-May through mid-October) and the Barnhart Loop (open mid-May through late August). The park offers exceptional fishing opportunities, a full-service marina, boat launch and rentals, a swimming beach, tennis courts, and extensive trails for hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. The year-round Nicandri Nature Center provides environmental education with live animals, aquaria, and mounted wildlife displays.
