Eel Weir State Park

Closed — Closed for the season. The park operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend. The 2025 camping season ran from May 23 through August 31.

About

Eel Weir State Park is a small, secluded campground located on the Oswegatchie River in the Thousand Islands region, approximately two miles from Black Lake and eight miles southwest of Ogdensburg. The park spans just 16 acres but offers 38 campsites along with a picnic area and pavilion that can accommodate up to 70 people. Both the Oswegatchie River and nearby Black Lake are known for excellent bass fishing and are ideal for canoes and rowboats. The park's waterfront includes a 625-foot beach and boat launches, making it easy to access the navigable waters. The river is navigable upstream to the lake, providing opportunities for extended paddling trips. Despite its small size, the park provides modern amenities including showers, restrooms, a playground, picnic tables at campsites, and fire rings. The campsites are available without hookups, making this a dry camping destination. The park's small, secluded nature makes it perfect for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy a peaceful waterside camping experience in the St. Lawrence Valley.
