About
Harlequin Campground sits along the Stehekin River in Lake Chelan National Recreation Area, part of the North Cascades National Park Complex. Located 4.5 miles from Stehekin Landing, this remote campground offers 7 walk-in sites with limited shared parking. Stehekin is only accessible by passenger ferry, private boat, plane, or on foot, making this a true wilderness camping experience. The campground features vault toilets and seasonal trash service, but no running water. Campers must filter or boil water from the Stehekin River or pack in their own supply. Each site includes a picnic table and designated fire ring. Sites are spacious enough for multiple tents. Wildlife, including bears, is common in the area, and all food must be stored in provided animal-resistant lockers or hard-sided vehicles. From Harlequin, campers can access trails including the Stehekin River Trail, Company Creek Trail, and Rainbow Loop. The campground is prone to flooding during late May and June due to spring runoff. Nearby amenities at Stehekin Landing include a small store, restaurant, and shower/laundry facilities. There is no cell phone reception in the area.
