Riviera Camp

Riviera Camp occupies a stretch of Forest Road 247 at mile marker 36.3 along the pristine North Fork Clearwater River in Clearwater County, Idaho. This dispersed camping area features roughly half a dozen primitive sites tucked along the riverbank, offering direct access to one of Idaho's most scenic and wild river corridors. The crystal-clear waters of the North Fork are framed by granite boulders and stands of old-growth western red cedar. The site is positioned between Ermine Creek access upstream and Quartz Creek access downstream, making it a strategic stop for multi-day float trips on this 45-mile stretch of Class III-V whitewater. A boat put-in is located approximately a quarter mile upstream, with a straightforward float to Aquarius Campground downstream. The river supports excellent fishing for rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and bull trout. As dispersed camping on National Forest land, no facilities or services are provided. Campers must bring all water, pack out all trash, and adhere to standard USFS dispersed camping regulations including the 14-day stay limit. This is remote backcountry with no services nearby.

Directions

From Orofino, Idaho, travel northeast on Highway 11 to Headquarters, then continue east on Forest Road 247 (North Fork Road) for approximately 36 miles. Riviera Camp is at mile marker 36.3, located between Ermine Creek and Quartz Creek access points along the river.
