About

Fawn Creek Camp is a primitive dispersed camping area located in the backcountry of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests in north-central Idaho. The site sits in the remote reaches of Clearwater County near the historic mining town of Dixie, accessible via forest roads that wind through dense conifer forests and rugged mountain terrain. This undeveloped campsite offers a true backcountry experience with minimal amenities, making it suitable for self-sufficient campers comfortable with primitive conditions. The surrounding Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests encompass over 4 million acres of diverse landscapes including deep canyons, pristine rivers, and dense old-growth cedar forests, providing ample opportunities for hiking, fishing, hunting, and wildlife viewing. Access to this remote area is limited by seasonal road conditions, with forest roads typically closed by snow from late fall through early summer. Visitors should come fully prepared with supplies as services are extremely limited in this isolated region.

Directions
