About
Purple Beach Group Site consists of 2 group campsites situated on the bank of the North Fork of the Clearwater River within the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. The campground is part of the larger Aquarius Campground complex and offers a scenic riverside setting ideal for group camping experiences. The river provides abundant recreation opportunities throughout the season. Swimming, fly fishing, and tubing are popular activities, while whitewater rafting is particularly good during May and June when water levels are highest. The campground appeals to hunters, anglers, and families seeking a peaceful riverside retreat. Hiking trails near the campground provide access to the Mallard Larkins Pioneer Area and lead to Black Mountain summit, one of the few remaining locations in Idaho where mountain goats can be observed. The campground is located approximately 24 miles north of Headquarters, Idaho on Beaver Creek Road.
