Purple Beach Group Site
Open seasonally from late May through mid-October. Potable water is typically available from late May through September 30. Garbage services are not provided; pack it in, pack it out.
About
Purple Beach Group Site sits along the North Fork of the Clearwater River within the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. Part of Aquarius Campground, this group site provides a quiet riverside setting popular with families, anglers, and hunters alike. The river offers excellent opportunities for swimming, fly fishing, tubing, and whitewater rafting during May and June when water levels are optimal. Hiking trails near the campground access the Mallard Larkins Pioneer Area and lead to Black Mountain summit, one of the few remaining places in Idaho where mountain goats can still be observed. The campground provides vault toilets and potable water from faucets (available late May through late September). Garbage services are not provided, so campers must pack out all trash.
Directions
From Headquarters, ID, drive north on Beaver Creek Road approximately 24 miles to the campground.
