About

Aquarius Campground occupies a scenic stretch along the North Fork of the Clearwater River in Idaho's Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. At 1,700 feet elevation, the campground features 9 developed individual sites and 2 group campsites known as Purple Beach. The riverside setting makes it ideal for water-based recreation including swimming, fly fishing for cutthroat trout, tubing, and whitewater rafting during the high-water months of May and June. The campground serves as a basecamp for exploring the surrounding wilderness. Hiking trails near the campground access the Mallard Larkins Pioneer Area and lead to the Black Mountain summit, one of the few remaining places in Idaho where mountain goats can still be observed. Hunters, anglers, and families seeking a quiet riverside retreat will find this a well-positioned camp. Amenities include potable water from faucets (available until September 30), vault toilets, and picnic tables. Garbage service is not provided; campers must pack out all trash. The campground is accessible via Beaver Creek Road, approximately 24 miles north of Headquarters, Idaho.
