About

Aquarius Campground sits along the banks of the scenic North Fork of the Clearwater River in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. With 9 developed single sites and 2 group campsites at Purple Beach, the campground attracts hunters, anglers, and families seeking a quiet riverside getaway. Water activities are the main draw here, with swimming, fly fishing, tubing, and whitewater rafting particularly popular during May and June when flows are high. The campground serves as a gateway to backcountry adventures. Hiking trails from the campground lead into the Mallard Larkins Pioneer Area and to Black Mountain summit, one of the few remaining places in Idaho where mountain goats can still be observed. The remote location along Beaver Creek Road, approximately 24 miles north of Headquarters, provides a true forest camping experience. Amenities include vault toilets, potable water (seasonal), picnic tables, and fire pits at each site. The campground operates on a pack-in, pack-out basis with no garbage services. Sites are first-come, first-served with cash or check payment accepted on-site.
