The campground operates seasonally from late May through mid-October, typically opening around May 24. Sites are first-come, first-served at $10 per night. Early season visitors should be prepared for potable water systems to potentially be offline until late May or early June.

AQAMSO WHAT: Air Quality Advisory because of degraded air quality due to wildfire smoke. Air Quality Index is forecast to be Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. WHERE... Clearwater and Idaho Counties outside of reservation boundar WHEN: Extended until 3:00PM 8/12/2026 IMPACTS: Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is less likely to be affected. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Air pollutants can cause breathing difficult for children, the elderly, as well as persons with respiratory problems. Those individuals who are sensitive to increased particulate matter or smoke are encouraged to avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor activity during this advisory. Open burning is prohibited by air quality rule. It is also recommended that all other individuals limit prolonged or strenuous activity outdoors. Crossing the bridge to Washington Creek Campground reveals a splendid overlook of the North Fork of the Clearwater River. At 2,100 feet elevation, this established campground offers 23 single sites and one group site, each with a gravel parking pad, picnic table, and fire ring. Five vault restrooms and three water spigots are distributed around the loop for convenience. The campground provides excellent river access along its full length for fishing, swimming, or simply cooling off in the crisp, clear water. Washington Ridge Trail departs directly from the campground, offering quick access to higher elevations. The trail accommodates hikers, stock users, bicyclists, and motorcycles. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out campground with no trash services. The setting is rustic but well-maintained, ideal for those seeking a quiet riverside stay with trail access in north-central Idaho.

Directions

From Headquarters, ID, head south on State Highway 11 for 3.4 miles and turn left onto Camp 57 Road. Continue for 14.5 miles and turn left onto French Mountain Road. Drive 9.7 miles and turn left onto Beaver Creek Road/North Fork Road. Continue 6.2 miles to the campground.
