About
Bungalow Camp is a remote campground in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests along the North Fork of the Clearwater River. The site is located near the historic Bungalow Ranger Station, which operated from 1913 to 1971 and served as a stopover point for forest rangers traveling through the backcountry. Access is via Forest Road 250 (French Mountain Road), which can be reached from Pierce, Idaho. The North Fork Clearwater River country is characterized by heavily forested terrain and rugged wilderness. The area offers opportunities for fishing, rafting, and backcountry exploration. Due to its remote location and elevation, the road system in this area is significantly affected by snow and typically closes during winter months.
Directions
From Pierce, Idaho, take State Highway 11 to the south end of town. Turn onto French Mountain Road (Forest Road 250) and travel approximately 45 miles. Stay right after crossing the North Fork of the Clearwater River at the historic Bungalow Ranger Station site.
