About

Rising Star Campground is an Army Corps of Engineers recreation area located on the Arkansas River adjacent to Pool 3 Lock and Dam. The campground offers 25 campsites, all equipped with electric and water hookups, making it suitable for RVs and trailers. Modern amenities include hot showers, restroom facilities, a dump station, and a playground for families. A group shelter is available for day-use reservations and can accommodate up to 60 people. The campground is particularly popular among anglers, with excellent catfish fishing in the tail-waters of Joe Hardin Lock and Dam and Emmitt Sanders Lock and Dam at the upstream end of Pool 3. Bass, crappie, and bream are also frequently caught. A boat launch provides easy access to the river for boating enthusiasts. Hunting is available in nearby forests, and duck hunting is permitted on the waterways. Set in a forested area along the riverfront, the park is surrounded by the rolling cotton fields characteristic of the Arkansas River Delta. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with red fox frequently spotted in the park and numerous species of waterfowl inhabiting the water and shoreline. The campground is located 12 miles from Pine Bluff, providing convenient access to shopping, groceries, and attractions including the Arkansas Railroad Museum and Martha Mitchell Home.

Directions

From Pine Bluff, Arkansas, take U.S. Highway 65 south for 7.8 miles to Linwood. Turn left on Blankinship Road, drive 3.5 miles and follow the signs for Rising Star Campground.
