Maumelle Campground sits on the Arkansas River at Murray Lock and Dam, part of the McClellan-Kerr Navigation System that connects the Mississippi River to Oklahoma. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District, this 128-site campground provides a convenient base for exploring central Arkansas while offering direct river access for boating and fishing. All standard campsites feature 50-amp electric hookups and water connections on paved driveways that can accommodate large RVs up to 70 feet. Amenities include hot showers, restrooms, a boat ramp, dock, and playground. The Nuttall Trail winds through the park for hiking, and the Arkansas River yields crappie, bream, hybrid bass, and white bass. Wintering bald eagles congregate along the river from Canada and the Great Lakes region. Pinnacle Mountain State Park lies just two miles away with 13 trails ranging from easy to strenuous, plus mountain biking. Two Rivers Park offers additional trails and connects to the Arkansas River Trail system. Note that sites in the UAMS Medical Loop require prior approval from both a park ranger and physician.
