About

Maumelle Campground is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility situated on the southern banks of the Arkansas River at the Murray Lock and Dam area. This spacious campground features 128 campsites with electric hookups spread across multiple loops, plus eight large group picnic shelters. Sites are mostly paved and many offer shade from large hardwood trees, with some providing riverside views. The campground is set on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, where the Arkansas River flows 1,450 miles from the Rocky Mountains through Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas before joining the Mississippi River. Wintering eagles migrate here in large numbers from Canada and the Great Lakes region, making it an excellent spot for wildlife viewing. The Nuttall Trail runs through the park offering hiking opportunities, while anglers can fish for crappie, bream, hybrid bass, white bass, and more. A boat ramp and dock provide easy water access. Nearby attractions include Pinnacle Mountain State Park, just two miles away, featuring 13 mountain trails ranging from easy to strenuous plus mountain biking trails. Two Rivers Park, also two miles distant, offers extensive hiking and biking trails that connect to the Arkansas River Trail system. The campground includes a special UAMS Medical Loop with extended stay sites designated for University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences patients, requiring approval from both a park ranger and physician prior to reservation.
