Pendleton Bend Campground and Day Use Park occupies a scenic stretch of the Arkansas River approximately 3.5 miles upstream from the Wilbur D. Mills Dam. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this established campground provides 31 Class A campsites with electric (30-amp and 50-amp options) and water hookups. Facilities include a comfort station with hot showers and flush toilets, a two-lane boat ramp, playground, picnic areas, and a group shelter accommodating up to 75 people. The campground sits within the Eastern Arkansas alluvial bottomland forest and lies along a major migratory bird corridor from the Gulf of Mexico, making it a prime destination for birding and waterfowl hunting. World-class bass and crappie fishing is found in Pool 2, while the tailwaters of the dam produce excellent catfish. The nearby Trusten Holder Wildlife Management Area and Dale Bumpers White River Refuge offer additional hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing opportunities. Historically significant, this site commemorates the Trail of Tears Water Route where thousands of Cherokee, Choctaw, Muscogee (Creek), and Chickasaw passed during forced relocations. An on-site exhibit documents this history. Nearby Arkansas Post National Memorial marks the first European village west of the Mississippi River, established in 1686.
