Ridge Campground

Closed — Closed for the season. The campground operates from April through October. The park remains open year-round for day use and winter recreation including cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

About

Ridge Campground is part of Zippel Bay State Park, a 3,000-acre park located on Lake of the Woods, one of the world's largest lakes. The campground loop contains 14 non-electric campsites and is designed to accommodate bigger campers and RVs as well as tent campers. The campground is set within a birch forest environment, offering a more wooded camping experience compared to some of the park's other campground loops. The campground provides vault toilets and a hand pump for water access within the loop. Ridge Campground is considered the most accessible for large RVs among the park's four campground loops. In fall 2012, extensive logging was conducted in and around this campground to reduce fire hazard and ensure healthy forest regeneration, creating a different landscape than in earlier years. Zippel Bay State Park features two miles of white sand beach along Lake of the Woods, a marina with protected docking, a 90-foot fishing pier, fish cleaning station, and boat ramp. The park is renowned for springtime trophy northern pike fishing, extensive birding opportunities including sandhill cranes and piping plovers, and spectacular sunsets over the lake. Winter activities include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling on designated trails.

Directions

Located 10 miles northeast of Williams, Minnesota on County Road 8. The park is accessible from Highway 11 via County Road 34 to County Road 8.
