About

Ridge Campground is one of five camping areas within Zippel Bay State Park, located in Minnesota's remote northwest corner on the vast Lake of the Woods. The 14 non-electric sites are set among forest that was selectively logged in 2012 to reduce fire hazards and encourage forest regeneration. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill, with vault toilets and a hand-pump water station serving the loop. The park encompasses nearly 3,000 acres of boreal forest and wetlands, with over two miles of sandy beach shoreline on Lake of the Woods. Anglers will appreciate the marina on Zippel Bay and the stone jetty providing protected access to the big lake. The park is known for its exceptional walleye and northern pike fishing, as well as opportunities to spot moose, black bears, and over 200 bird species. Ridge Campground sits near the park office area, giving campers convenient access to seasonal shower facilities and the dump station. The campground can accommodate larger RVs and fifth-wheel campers, though the non-electric sites are best suited for self-contained units or tent camping.
