About

Big Bog Campground is located in the southern unit of Big Bog State Recreation Area, positioned along the Tamarack River in Beltrami County. The campground offers 31 drive-in sites, with 26 featuring electric hookups. Sites can accommodate RVs up to 60 feet and include fire rings, grills, and picnic tables. Several waterfront sites provide private docks for direct fishing and boat access. Facilities include flush toilets and hot showers at the visitor center, vault toilets within the camping area, drinking water, and a fish cleaning station. The campground features a sandy swimming beach, playground, and boat ramp. Canoe, kayak, and bicycle rentals are available. The rustic camper cabins operate year-round with propane heat. The park's main attraction is the 500-square-mile peat bog in the northern unit, the largest in the lower 48 states. A mile-long boardwalk completed in 2005 allows visitors to explore this unique ecosystem and observe rare plant and animal species found nowhere else in the region.
