About

Rice Lake State Park Group Campground offers a rustic overnight experience for organized groups seeking to camp together in southern Minnesota. The site accommodates up to 60 campers and is classified as walk-in, requiring a short trek of less than 60 yards from the parking area. The setting features tall hardwoods characteristic of this region, providing shade and scenic surroundings. Amenities are intentionally primitive: multiple picnic tables for group meals, a communal fire ring with grill for cooking, and a vault toilet. Water is available, but modern restroom and shower facilities are not provided at the group camp. Campers should come prepared for backcountry-style camping while still having vehicular access nearby. The park itself offers additional recreational opportunities including nearly five miles of trails, canoe-in campsites on the south side of Rice Lake for those seeking even more seclusion, and winter activities such as cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The adjacent main campground loops (A and B) have shower facilities available to registered campers.
