About

Sakatah Lake State Park offers two distinct group camping areas on the shores of Upper and Lower Sakatah lakes. The Upper Group Camp is located along Upper Sakatah Lake, conveniently positioned near the boat landing and adjacent to the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail. This site features running water, vault toilets, and electricity available for a fee. The site accommodates tents and a limited number of trailers with parking limitations. The Lower Group Camp provides a more remote experience on Lower Sakatah Lake, situated away from the main park use area. This tents-only site features a hand pump for water and a vault toilet. The camping area is arranged on two levels, with the parking area and facilities on top and the primary camping area 325 feet downhill next to the lake. The site includes its own dock for fishing and boating, with access to Upper Sakatah Lake via Lower Sakatah Lake. The Lower Group Camp is located 0.6 miles from the state trail via paved and gravel roads. Both group camps offer picnic tables and fire rings for each camping area. The park sits on the boundary between prairie and Big Woods landscapes, providing diverse scenery and excellent opportunities for hiking, biking on the paved state trail, fishing for panfish and sport fish, and canoeing. The park encompasses 842 acres with the 39-mile Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail running through it, offering year-round recreation including biking, hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.

Directions

From the intersection of State Highways 13 and 60 in Waterville, head east on Highway 60 for approximately 1 mile. The park entrance will be on your left, clearly marked with signage.
