About
White Fox Campground occupies the mainland portion of Myre-Big Island State Park along the shores of Albert Lea Lake in Freeborn County, Minnesota. Unlike the more densely wooded Big Island Campground across the lake, White Fox provides open sites with generous spacing and plenty of sunlight. The campground contains 64 drive-in sites, 15 of which offer electric hookups, and can accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs up to 60 feet. Facilities at White Fox include a modern restroom building constructed in 2005 featuring flush toilets, hot showers, and ADA-accessible design. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring with grill, following Minnesota state park standards. A sanitary dump station serves RV campers. The restroom building operates seasonally. The park provides excellent opportunities for birdwatching, particularly during migration seasons when waterfowl frequent the surrounding wetlands. The 116-acre Big Island features northern hardwood forest including maple and basswood, while the mainland areas showcase oak savanna and prairie ecosystems. The Blazing Star State Trail connects to the campground, offering paved biking and hiking opportunities.
Directions
From Albert Lea, take Interstate 35 to Exit 11 (County Road 46). Head east on County Road 46 for approximately 3 miles to the park entrance. The park address is 19499 780th Avenue, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
