About
Myre-Big Island State Park Group Campground offers a rustic group camping experience in southern Minnesota's prairie wetland landscape. The campground accommodates up to 50 people and features standard group camp amenities including picnic tables, fire rings with grills, access to water, and primitive vault toilets. Modern facilities like showers are not available at the group camp, though they can be found at other campgrounds within the park. The park encompasses over 1,600 acres of diverse habitats including oak savanna, prairie, wetlands, and the 116-acre Big Island covered in maple-basswood forest. Campers have access to hiking trails, the paved Blazing Star State Trail for biking and walking, and water activities on Albert Lea Lake including a boat ramp on Little Island. Canoe and kayak rentals are available within the park.
Directions
From Albert Lea, Minnesota, take County Highway 38 south for approximately 3 miles to reach the park entrance.
