About
Reservoir Lake Campground is a high elevation lakeside campground located at 7,000 feet in the Beaverhead Mountains of southwestern Montana. The campground sits along the south shore of 11-acre Reservoir Lake and offers 16 designated campsites with vault toilets and a primitive boat ramp. Average parking apron size is 15 feet by 61 feet on dirt surfaces. The campground operates on a pack it in, pack it out basis with no garbage services, though bear-resistant food storage boxes are available. Scenic hiking trails are accessible from the campground. The lake is non-motorized only, making it ideal for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and swimming in a peaceful mountain setting. The narrow interior road with trees close to the roadway and small parking aprons make this campground best suited for car camping, tent camping, or smaller converted vans. The remote location requires traveling 18 miles on Forest Road 181 from Highway 324. During winter months, the campground is not accessible by wheeled vehicles, with winter parking located approximately 5 miles from the campground.
Directions
From Dillon go south on Interstate 15 for 19 miles. Take Highway 324 west 17 miles. Turn onto Forest Road 181 and continue for 18 miles following signs to the lake.
