About
Reed Bingham State Park encompasses 1,613 acres centered around a 375-acre lake popular for boating, fishing, and paddling. The park offers 46 spacious campsites with full hookups, including both back-in and pull-through sites with electric, water, and sewer connections. Modern amenities include bathhouses with hot showers, laundry facilities, and a dump station. Sites feature picnic tables and fire pits, with some offering 50-amp service and cable TV hookups. The lake provides excellent fishing for bass, crappie, catfish and bream, with boat ramps, docks, and boat rentals available. Paddlers can rent canoes and kayaks to explore waters lined with fragrant water lilies and tupelo trees. A sand beach and swimming area offer summer recreation. The Coastal Plain Nature Trail showcases nearly 80 percent of the region's plant community, making this habitat some of the most diverse in the country. Wildlife viewing is exceptional year-round. Visitors commonly spot gopher tortoises, yellow-bellied sliders, indigo snakes, and American alligators sunning along the lake's edge. Nesting bald eagles frequent the park in winter, and thousands of black vultures and turkey vultures roost in the trees during colder months. Additional facilities include picnic shelters, group shelters, playgrounds, outdoor exercise equipment, miniature golf, and bike rentals. Located less than six miles from I-75, the park serves as an ideal stopover for travelers.
