About
Red Bank Campground is a small, primitive campground with 5 sites situated right on the North Fork of the Salmon River within the Klamath National Forest. The Salmon River was designated a Scenic and Recreational River within the National Wild & Scenic Rivers System in 1981, offering exceptional natural beauty and recreational opportunities. This free campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required. Amenities are basic: vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water or garbage service. Campers can filter or boil water from the adjacent river for drinking and cooking, and must pack out all trash and recycling. Each campsite includes a fire pit and picnic table. Pets on leashes are permitted, and camping is limited to 14 consecutive days. The campground's riverside location makes it ideal for swimming, fishing for trout and salmon, and wildlife viewing. Access is via Sawyers Bar Road from Etna, approximately 33 miles into the forest. The remote setting and lack of services attract experienced campers seeking a quiet, undeveloped camping experience along one of California's protected wild rivers.
Directions
From Etna, take Sawyers Bar Road for approximately 33 miles to Red Bank Campground.
