Matthews Creek Campground offers a peaceful riverside camping experience in the Klamath National Forest along the South Fork of the Salmon River. This intimate campground features 10 campsites with easy river access and proximity to several excellent swimming holes. The location is ideal for anglers, kayakers, and anyone seeking a quiet retreat in the forest. The campground is located adjacent to Matthews Creek River Access, which provides a large parking area on a cobble bar for river users. Visitors can enjoy non-motorized boating, fishing, swimming, and wildlife viewing in this scenic area. The South Fork of the Salmon River is known for its clear waters and natural beauty. The campground is accessed via Callahan-Cecilville Road, approximately 37 miles from Callahan. Sites are available for $10 per night, with a 50% discount available for Interagency Senior/Access Recreation Pass holders. Payment is by cash or check. Some sites may be reservable through Recreation.gov with an additional reservation fee.
