About

Nordheimer Group Campground occupies a forested setting along the Wild and Scenic California Salmon River in Six Rivers National Forest. The campground features four spacious group sites surrounded by Douglas-fir and hardwood forest. Sites A, B, and C have large grassy meadows with accessible double vault restrooms nearby, while Site D overlooks the Salmon River and has its own accessible vault restroom with direct walking access to the water. The campground is in the heart of Salmon River whitewater country. Rafting season begins in spring and continues until water levels drop in early summer. Remnants of historic mining operations and a few fruit trees from past homesteading activities add character to this remote area. Boat access to the river's edge is available with 4x4 vehicles. Popular activities include swimming, sunbathing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, hiking in the adjacent Marble Mountain Wilderness, wildlife viewing, and biking. Campers should bring their own drinking water and be prepared for no cellular service. The access road is narrow with sharp corners and steep cliffs, making large RVs and trailers inadvisable.
