About

Nordheimer Group Campground is located in a Douglas-fir and hardwood forest close to the Wild and Scenic California Salmon River at 900 feet elevation. The campground features four distinct group sites that can each accommodate up to 50 guests. Sites A, B, and C are set in large grassy meadows surrounded by forest, while Site D overlooks the Salmon River with easy walking access for boaters and swimmers. All sites are equipped with combination fire ring grills and picnic tables. The campground sits in the heart of the Salmon River whitewater area, making it a prime location for rafting activities from spring through early summer when water levels are suitable. Remnants from historic mining operations and a few fruit trees from past homesteading activities can still be seen in this remote area. Boat access to the river's edge is available at Nordheimer for vehicles with 4x4 capability. Roads and parking areas throughout the campground are gravel, providing a rustic camping experience in a beautiful and secluded setting. Popular activities include swimming, sunbathing, rafting, kayaking, hiking, wildlife viewing, and mountain biking.
