Idlewild Campground sits along the North Fork of the Salmon River in the Klamath National Forest, approximately 20 miles west of Etna via Sawyers Bar Road. The campground offers 11 campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis at $10 per night. All sites include fire rings and picnic tables, with a 14-day stay limit. During the summer season, the campground provides potable water from faucets and garbage service. Vault toilets are available year-round. After October 23, water and trash services are discontinued for winter, though the campground remains accessible. The facility can accommodate RVs up to 24 feet in length. The North Fork of the Salmon River provides opportunities for fishing and swimming during warmer months. The area also offers access to hiking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on leash. Payment is by cash or check only, and Interagency Senior/Access passes receive a 50% discount on the camping fee.
