About

Shakamak State Park is a 1,766-acre park in western Indiana featuring three man-made lakes created by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s. The campground offers 182 sites distributed across multiple loops, with about two-thirds in wooded areas providing shade and fall color. Site options include 128 electric (15/20/30/50 amp), 42 non-electric, and 12 full-hookup sites with water and sewer. Pull-through sites up to 100 feet accommodate large RVs. Amenities include modern bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers, drinking water, a dump station, and a camp store selling firewood, ice, bait, tackle, and snacks. Fire rings and picnic tables are available at sites. The park allows pets at most campsites with standard leash requirements. Recreation options include fishing for bass, bluegill, and catfish across the three lakes, paddle boat and jon boat rentals, hiking on seven trails ranging from 1 to 4 miles, and a seasonal family aquatic center with pool and water slides. A nature center offers interpretive programs during peak season.
