About

Interlake Off-Road State Recreation Area occupies 3,550 acres of reclaimed coal mine land straddling Warrick and Pike counties in southern Indiana. The varied terrain created by mining and reclamation offers everything from steep spoil banks to rolling grasslands, strip pits, and 17 man-made lakes. Nearly 100 miles of trails accommodate all types of off-road vehicles including full-size rigs, Jeeps, trucks, dirt bikes, ATVs, and UTVs. Primitive camping is available at 36 first-come, first-served sites: 11 in the family camping area and 25 in the horseman's campground. Each site includes a picnic table and grill, with pit toilets and seasonal drinking water provided. Self-registration is required. The Big Kate Shelter can also be reserved for group gatherings. Beyond motorized recreation, the property welcomes horseback riders, hikers, and mountain bikers on designated trails. The 17 lakes offer fishing opportunities, and hunting is permitted in season. Trails are open sunrise to sunset daily.
