Red Cliffs Campground

Red Cliffs Campground is a Bureau of Land Management facility located within the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area near St. George in southwest Utah. The campground sits at the base of dramatic red Navajo sandstone cliffs where Quail Creek supports mature cottonwood trees and willows that provide natural shade. The area holds significant natural and cultural history, including dinosaur trackways visible in the sandstone and evidence of Ancestral Puebloan settlements from the 10th century. The campground offers 11 designated sites, most with shade shelters (Site 4 lacks one), fire rings, grills, and picnic tables. Potable water is available, and accessible vault toilets are located between sites 5 and 7. Sites 6, 7, and 10 offer pull-through parking, while sites 8 and 11 meet ADA accessibility standards. Reservations are required through Recreation.gov with no first-come, first-served option. The surrounding recreation area features an extensive trail network popular with hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. The Red Reef Trail follows Quail Creek into Cottonwood Canyon Wilderness and is especially scenic in spring when seasonal runoff fills plunge pools. Wildlife includes Gambel's quail, canyon wrens, Mojave desert tortoises, and occasionally Gila monsters.

Directions

From St. George: Take I-15 north to Exit 22/228 N-Leeds. At the end of the off-ramp, turn right onto Old Highway 91. Travel south 1.5 miles and turn right. Continue under two freeway tunnels (height/width restricted to less than 11'9"), turn left, and follow the paved road 1.3 miles to the campground. From the north: Take I-15 south to Exit 23/228 S/Leeds, go left under the highway, then right on S. Main Street for 3.2 miles. Turn right and continue through the tunnels.
