About

Red Cliffs Campground sits at the base of dramatic red Navajo Sandstone cliffs within the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Quail Creek flows through the campground, supporting mature cottonwood trees and willows that provide natural shade for most campsites. The recreation area preserves both natural and cultural resources, including visible dinosaur footprints in the sandstone and archaeological sites from Ancestral Puebloans who lived here in the 10th century, growing crops along Quail and Leeds Creek. The campground offers 11 developed sites with shade shelters (except site 4), picnic tables, grills, and potable water. Sites 8 and 11 are ADA accessible, while sites 6, 7, and 10 offer pull-through parking. Vault toilets are centrally located. The Red Reef Trail is the area's most popular hike, following Quail Creek into the Cottonwood Canyon Wilderness. In spring, seasonal runoff fills water pockets and plunge pools in the stream channel. Additional trails accommodate hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. The White Reef Trailhead can accommodate large horse trailers for extended rides on the Prospector Trail connecting to Church Rocks Trail. Wildlife viewing opportunities include Gambel's quail, canyon wrens, Mojave desert tortoises, and Gila monsters.
