The National Weather Service in Sacramento CA has issued a Fire Weather Watch. * AFFECTED AREA...A portion of the Sacramento Valley and northern foothills. * TIMING...From 11 AM PDT Saturday through 11 AM PDT Monday. * WINDS...Gusts 20 to 35 mph. South to southwest winds Saturday morning and afternoon, becoming north to northeast Saturday evening through Monday. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Relative Humidity between 10 to 25 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Loafer Creek Campground is a well-developed facility within Lake Oroville State Recreation Area, located about 9.5 miles east of Highway 70 via Highway 162. The campground features 137 individual sites spread across shaded terrain near the lake, with six sites meeting ADA accessibility standards. Each campsite comes equipped with a picnic table, fire ring with cooking grill, and tent pad. The campground provides substantial amenities including 20 flush toilets (12 ADA accessible), 16 coin-operated hot water showers, 12 gray water sumps, and an RV sanitation station. A staffed entrance booth offers a telephone for emergencies. The facility accommodates trailers up to 31 feet and motorhomes up to 40 feet, though no utility hookups are available at individual sites. Recreational opportunities abound with direct access to Lake Oroville for boating and fishing via the nearby Loafer Creek boat ramp. Several trails depart from the area including the Roy Rogers Trail and Loafer Creek Loop Trail, portions of which meet ADA accessibility standards. The adjacent Loafer Creek Day Use Area features a beach for swimming and wading.

Directions

From Sacramento, take Highway 70 north 68 miles to Highway 162. Continue 9.5 miles east on Highway 162 to the Loafer Creek entrance.
