About

Loafer Creek Group Campground is located within Lake Oroville State Recreation Area at the southern end of the lake, approximately 75 miles north of Sacramento. The facility features six separate group campsites, each designed to accommodate up to 25 people, making it ideal for large gatherings, family reunions, or organizational outings. Each group site is well-equipped with several picnic tables, a sink with running water, a large barbecue grill, a large campfire ring, five spacious tent pads, shade trees, nearby water spigots, and designated parking for eight vehicles. The campground shares facilities with the main Loafer Creek complex, including eight flush toilets and eight showers, all ADA accessible. Adjacent to the group sites, visitors have access to Lake Oroville's only designated swimming area, a sandy beach at higher lake levels, and an eight-lane boat ramp. The location offers excellent opportunities for fishing, boating, water skiing, and swimming on the 15,500-acre lake with 167 miles of shoreline. Multiple hiking and equestrian trails branch out from the area, including the four-mile Roy Rogers Trail, making this an ideal base for exploring the surrounding Sierra Nevada foothills.
