About
Lake Oroville SRA Group Boat-in Area, also known as Bloomer Group, is a primitive group campsite accessible only by boat on California's second-largest reservoir. The site accommodates up to 75 campers and provides a secluded, rustic camping experience on the forested shores of the Bloomer area of the lake. Amenities include shared BBQ cooking grills, shade trees, two pit toilets, and approximately nine trash receptacles. This campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved online. Campers must register at one of the park entrance stations: Loafer Creek, Bidwell Canyon, Spillway, or Lime Saddle. The site is best utilized when Lake Oroville storage is at higher levels (850 feet and above), as lower water levels can make campsites inconveniently distant from the shoreline. Campers should bring their own drinking water as no potable water is available at boat-in sites. The surrounding Lake Oroville State Recreation Area offers excellent opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, and wildlife viewing. The reservoir spans over 15,000 surface acres when full and is surrounded by oak-studded hillsides and pine forests. Other boat-in camping options in the area include individual sites at Bloomer Point, Bloomer Knoll, Bloomer Cove, Craig Saddle, and Foreman Creek.
Directions
Access Lake Oroville via Highway 162 (Oroville Dam Boulevard) from Highway 70 in Oroville. Register for boat-in camping at the Loafer Creek, Bidwell Canyon, Spillway, or Lime Saddle entrance stations before launching. The Bloomer Group campsite is located in the Bloomer area of the reservoir, accessible by boat from any of the park's launch ramps.
