About
This group campground sits within Lake Oroville State Recreation Area, a massive reservoir created by the 770-foot Oroville Dam on the Feather River. The recreation area offers world-class fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass, chinook salmon, catfish, mackinaw trout, sturgeon, and brown trout. Boating is extremely popular, with multiple launch ramps providing access for powerboating, sailing, and waterskiing. The park features an extensive trail system for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding through oak woodland foothills. Facilities include flush restrooms with coin-operated hot showers, potable water, and a dump station. Group sites typically include multiple picnic tables, fire rings with grills, and tent pads. The campground is located approximately 68 miles north of Sacramento, accessible via Highway 162 east from Highway 70. Note: Some trails remain closed due to ongoing fire recovery work from the Thompson Fire, with closures expected through December 2026. Dead Cow Ravine Trail and Gobbler's Knob remain closed.
