About

Loafer Creek Group Camps is a cluster of six group campsites within Lake Oroville State Recreation Area in Butte County, California. Each site—named Grasshopper, Grey Squirrel, Jack Rabbit, Lizard, Manzanita Berry, and Quail—can host up to 25 campers with parking for eight vehicles. Sites are equipped with multiple picnic tables, a large campfire ring, a barbecue grill, a sink with running water, five large tent pads, nearby water spigots, and shade trees. Shared facilities include eight flush toilets (four ADA accessible) and eight hot showers (all ADA accessible), operated by coin. The campground sits adjacent to Lake Oroville's only designated swimming area, which features a sandy beach when water levels are high, and an eight-lane boat ramp for lake access. The Loafer Creek area offers proximity to fishing, boating, swimming, and hiking opportunities throughout the greater Lake Oroville State Recreation Area. Reservations are handled through ReserveCalifornia.
