Ranch Campground at Spring Valley State Park offers an intimate, primitive camping experience in one of eastern Nevada's most scenic locations. Located two miles north of the main Horsethief Gulch Campground, this small facility features only seven campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and grill. The campground operates exclusively on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations available. The setting showcases the unique volcanic tuff and sediment formations that give Spring Valley its distinctive light-gray, pink, and white backdrop. Campers can explore a developed trail that connects Ranch Campground to the historic Stone Cabin, offering views of the valley and remnants of late 1800s ranching operations. The area is home to diverse wildlife including soaring eagles, hawks, ravens, and roadrunners, while the nearby 65-acre Eagle Valley Reservoir attracts waterfowl and shore birds. While primitive in nature, Ranch Campground provides essential amenities including potable water and vault toilets. The campground is part of Spring Valley State Park's year-round operations, though visitors should be prepared for typical Great Basin desert conditions. Camping is limited to seven days in any 30-day period, and quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Directions

Located two miles north of the main Horsethief Gulch Campground at Spring Valley State Park. From Pioche, travel 18 miles east on Highway 322 to reach the park, then continue north past the main campground.
