Kershaw Ryan State Park Group Day Use Campground

Open — The group day-use areas are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to sunset. Park winterization is in effect October through April. Reservations available through the Nevada State Parks system.

About

Situated in a colorful canyon with towering walls up to 700 feet high, Kershaw-Ryan State Park is an oasis in the desert, offering a sharp contrast to the rugged high desert landscape that surrounds it. The park features two group day-use areas ideal for gatherings in this historic location, one of Nevada's first state parks established in 1935. Natural springs grow a garden of wild grapevines, white oaks, fruit trees and willows throughout the canyon. Tables and grills are scattered through the oaks at the top of the park and along Rattlesnake Canyon Trail. When not reserved, picnickers may also use tables under the group shelters. The park offers 14 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, including the 1.5-mile Overlook Trail that provides stunning views from above the canyon. The site provides access to park amenities including restrooms with coin-operated showers, volleyball and horseshoe pits, a children's play structure, and a seasonal spring-fed wading pool. Wildlife including wild horses and deer frequently visit the water sources. Park winterization is in effect from October through April, with the wading pool drained from October 1 to May 1.
